Revolutionizing Giving Back: Volunteering Discovery  Through Human-Centered Design

Revolutionizing Giving Back: Volunteering Discovery  Through Human-Centered Design

Volunteering shouldn’t be hard, yet even the most well-meaning people struggle to give back. Opportunities are scattered, difficult to find, and overwhelming — especially for those already juggling busy schedules.

Madgiver is a mobile-first platform that simplifies the search for local volunteer opportunities by filtering based on personal interests, location, and availability.

Its aim? To make giving back as intuitive, effortless, and habit-forming as ordering takeout — making contributing to your community a natural part of everyday life.

Redefining Volunteering: Madgiver’s Evolving Impact and Future Vision

Madgiver was designed with one goal in mind: to make giving back intuitive, engaging, safe and personal. Through modern design, purposeful UX, and streamlined user flows, the first version offered users a clean signup experience and personalized volunteering suggestions, but as we tested and learned, we discovered something essential was missing — connection.

In future iterations, Madgiver leaned into community. We introduced a Community Page to help users see where their friends were volunteering, and which causes they cared about. To encourage continued engagement, we layered in a point system, offering a playful, competitive edge that turned impact into a shared experience.

These enhancements aim to turn volunteering into a habit — not just a good deed, but a meaningful, dopamine filled part of everyday life. Here is a look at these features in the prototype.
